Mancub Koffi Kaza

Born on March 7, 1997, to Russell (Bankole) Clemmons and Zalika (Oparabia) Kaza, Koffi was recognized for his exceptional talent, radiant smile, and unwavering devotion to his community. With every beat of his drum, every act of encouragement, and every embrace of tradition, Koffi fostered joy, unity, and inspiration in all who crossed his path.

As a son, brother, cousin, nephew, Awo of Ifa, mancub, and friend, Koffi touched individuals both locally and beyond through his passion for West African drumming. His artistry, leadership, and generosity established him as a prominent figure in the African cultural arts community and a valued participant at gatherings from an early age.

Although Koffi passed away in 2016, his legacy lives in the rhythms, traditions, and vibrant community he both inhabited and nurtured. Each year, the festival commemorates his memory by celebrating the AYO (joy), the love, cultural pride, and uplifting spirit he generously shared.

As we gather to learn, dance, drum, and celebrate, we honor Koffi Ifakunle Kaza, whose vibrant spirit resonates in every drumbeat, every step, every smile, and in each connection formed through culture and community.
